Stolen British Passport

My passport had been stolen, what should I do?

• A replacement for a Stolen Passport can be fast tracked using our managed service.
• If your passport is stolen while you are outside the UK you will still be able to return to the UK using an Emergency Travel Document. This document may enable you to continue travelling to other destinations but you should first check with our staff or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) or local consulate in the country where your passport was stolen.
• Application forms for a United Kingdom Emergency Travel Document can be sent to you free of charge by fax or email. Please contact us if you need any further information

• When making an application to replace a Stolen Passport additional information and declaration is required. This is to prevent anyone assuming your identity.
• A Stolen Passport should be reported immediately to the Police and a crime reference number obtained. You will need this information BEFORE we move forward with your application to replace a Stolen Passport.
• You will not be able to travel without a Passport or Emergency Travel Document.
• We can provide all the required documents for replacing your Stolen Passport free of charge and help with completion.
• We will assist in replacing a Stolen Passport quickly and in most instances without the need for an attendance or interview by the passport holder.
• If travel has been booked or the passport holder needs to travel urgently we will Fast Track the application and in certain circumstances speed up replacement subject to compliance and HMPO approval.
• New passport photographs will be required to meet the current approved standard. A photo guide will be forwarded to you and our staff will assist and check your photographs before submission.
• The back of 1 photograph will need to be signed by someone else to confirm the identity of the applicant and passport holder.
• This person also needs to countersign the passport application form.
• Check with us who is acceptable to sign this confirmation – before completing the application.
• If you discover your passport is stolen you should not make arrangements to travel outside the UK without first seeking advice.
